Reader’s Question:

My partner and I just moved here in Mississippi and I would like to know more information regarding SR22 car insurance that is being required for me to get. Thanks a lot.

Fred

Jackson, MS

I can tell you the basics that I know regarding the SR22 car insurance. However you can always contact Mississippi Department of Public Safety for more detailed information.

In the State of Mississippi it is illegal to operate motor vehicles, motorcycles, mopeds or golf carts on Mississippi roadways without proper liability insurance coverage. In addition to that, it is also illegal for any motor vehicle owner to permit anyone else to drive the car without insurance.

There are required minimum liability insurance coverage for the State of Mississippi as 25/50/25. This means: $25,000 bodily injury for one person in one accident, $50,000 for two or more persons in one accident, and $25,000 property damage incurred in one accident.

If you accumulate certain number of violations, such as reckless driving, driving under the influence (DUI) or (DWI), or refusal to test, at fault accidents or driving uninsured, the state may require you to obtain an SR22 insurance to the states DPS. The Department of Pubic Safety will mandate proof of financial responsibility in the form of SR-22 insurance. This insurance is also known as high-risk car insurance for some SR22 filing companies in MS. If you need to get this type of insurance, you may contact car insurance companies and see if they offer this.

Getting SR22 Insurance In Illinois

Reader’s Question:

My brother said that he needs to get SR22 insurance here in Illinois quick and he is asking for my help. What is SR22 insurance anyways and what’s the quickest way for him to get it?

Anton

Joliet, IL

One type of certification that a driver would have to get if he is involved in major traffic violations is SR22 insurance. In Illinois, SR22 insurance is required of drivers who have been involved in major traffic misdemeanor charges such as over speeding, DUI, and driving without the required car insurance coverage. To purchase SR22 insurance in a quick manner, your brother has to find a good SR22 insurance agency either through the Internet or yellow pages.

It should also be taken note that your brother has to keep the proper auto insurance coverage with SR22 for at least 3 years. Since he has to maintain SR22 insurance, he can have his driver’s license revoked if his SR22 Illinois insurance lapses or expires without being renewed. He should also be reminded that he has to pay his auto insurance premium on time or he can have his SR22 insurance cancelled without prior notice.

Your brother can conveniently purchase SR22 Illinois insurance through the Internet or by calling around. He should first look for a reputable auto insurance company that can give him affordable auto insurance with SR22. It is also noteworthy to mention that not all auto insurance providers in Illinois give out SR22 insurance, so he may have to go to an SR22 insurance company instead so he can get cheap SR22 insurance.

Lowering High-Risk Status Nebraska NE

Reader’s Question:

I am considered a high-risk driver here in Nebraska, and it makes my auto insurance premium skyrocket. How do I get rid of this status?

George

Lincoln, NE

Being a high-risk driver would surely give you higher auto insurance premiums than the regular prices. This is because auto insurance companies would not be easy on covering those drivers that are more probable to make more claims. Whenever you get into an accident, it becomes an automatic minus point against you. And even if you are not at fault but you always get into an accident, this is seen by auto insurance companies as some form of pattern. Hence, they would be hesitant in covering you. Also, having a DUI offense instantly makes you a high-risk driver. If we sum all of these up, being an irresponsible driver is equal to being a high-risk driver, which then translates to very high auto insurance premiums.

So, now the goal is to get rid of this status. But how do you do this?

Well, the answer is simple. You just have to prove to the auto insurance industry that you are already a responsible driver. This solution seems simple, but it would entail hard work on your part. And also, the work is not going to be overnight. Cleaning your driving record usually takes time.

So, how do you exactly do this?

One option available is to enroll yourself in a basic or a defensive driving course. These courses are available in local high schools and private establishments. This is going to serve as a form of signal to the auto insurance industry that you are taking this matter seriously.

In any case, you cannot do much about lowering your high-risk driver status there in Nebraska except to try and maintain a clean driving record. I suggest that you try to focus on lowering your auto insurance premium.

Just ask around. I am sure you will find helpful tips here on the Internet.

DUI SR-22 Insurance Florida FL

Reader’s Question:

Since I party a lot with my friends here in Florida, I was wondering what the penalties are for a DUI offense.

Paul

Miami Beach, FL

If you are thinking of driving even though you have already drunk some, don’t. Driving under the influence of alcohol will only bring you trouble because needless to say, you are putting not just yourself and your passengers in danger but also other people. DUI is also considered a criminal offense in every state, and having this offense will surely affect you in many ways, especially financially.

Normally, the penalties for having a DUI offense involve suspension of your driver’s license and driving privileges. It also depends on the number of offenses, but the penalties may all include serving time in jail and paying a certain amount of fee. The laws in different states have different policies regarding this matter, so you will just have to check with your automobile insurance company or visit Florida’s Department of Motor Vehicles Web site.

Furthermore, having a DUI offense marks your driving records. As of recently, the laws in each state are getting stricter with the penalties and the implementation in order to diminish the number of incidents on the road involving DUI. One of these penalties is the tagging system in some states which identifies a DUI offender through some sticker or mark in his vehicle. According to studies, this system has been efficient in lowering the cases involving DUI.

And lastly, you will also go through the hassle of filing an SR-22 form with your state’s Department of Motor Vehicles because this is a requirement for DUI offenders. Carrying an SR-22 automobile insurance policy, which is another type of automotive insurance policy that costs really high, will also be required of you. And to top the list, a DUI offense instantly makes you a high-risk driver, and this shall definitely increase the amount of your automobile insurance policy.

Now, I hope that you realize that DUI is a serious matter. So, if I were you just take a cab.

Comprehensive Auto Insurance Manchester, New Hampshire NH

Reader’s Question:

Hey there. I live in Manchester, New Hampshire, and I was wondering about the difference between collision and comprehensive coverage.

Joshua

Manchester, NH

Joshua, it’s actually pretty easy to differentiate these two. Collision coverage is when you are involved in an accident where there actually is a collision with something, like another car. Collision automotive insurance covers the cost of the any repairs that would be needed for your vehicle, but it is only to as much as vehicle’s price which a willing seller and willing buyer would agree upon under the current market conditions, without being under threat. But if your car is leased or financed, automobile gap insurance would come in handy to pay for the difference between what you owe and what the vehicle is worth.

Usually, collision coverage comes with the cost that you pay for repairs before the auto insurance policy becomes in effect. This is what we call insurance deductibles. I suggest that you pay for higher deductible because this will make the cost of your policy go down.

On the other hand is the comprehensive coverage. Comprehensive coverage involves the damages caused by anything other than a collision. Examples of this are vandalism, theft, fire, theft, hurricane, or even if you are just storing your vehicle at home and it gets damaged. Comprehensive coverage works the same way as collision coverage.

Typically, drivers avail of both these coverage, but it is not really required legally there in Manchester, New Hampshire as in any state. If your vehicle is financed, collision and comprehensive auto insurance coverage will surely prove to be helpful.

Lower Auto Insurance Cost Baltimore Maryland MD

Reader’s Question:

I just bought a new car in Baltimore, Maryland, and I’m shopping around for an affordable insurance policy. I heard advice from friends to get a higher deductible to lower the cost of my premium. Should I take their advice?

Gerry

Baltimore, MD

If you think you have what it takes to be a responsible driver, you may want to think about increasing your deductibles to lower you car insurance premium payments. When I say deductibles, this is the amount you will personally have to shell out for any repairs or payments on your insurance claim. In one scenario, for example, if you have set your deductible to be $500, and you will need to have the car repaired for $2000 through your insurance claim, you will first have to pay your $500 share while your insurance company will pay for the remaining $1500 balance of the bill. A higher deductible might just be the key to getting your premium to your desired level. It will also make you think twice if you ever come up with the idea of driving down the freeway fast and furious style in Baltimore, Maryland. Please note however, that you should only offer to pay a deductible amount that is within your budget or capacity to pay if ever an unfortunate event does happen. Otherwise, your plan to save by getting a more affordable insurance premium will backfire since you will end up paying for most of the repair expenses out of your own pocket.

Auto Insurance SR22 Portland Oregon OR

August 28, 2008 by maricar · Leave a Comment

Reader’s Question:

My gay friend has SR22 non-owners insurance. Will these cover policy holders in uninsured vehicles? Is it considered proof of insurance if the vehicle is uninsured in Portland, OR?

Oliver

Portland, OR

Hi Oliver,

I believe it would be best for you and your gay pals to verify first that the vehicle you will be driving is insured and not just rely upon SR-22 insurance to provide the necessary vehicle coverage in Portland OR. The owner of any vehicle on the other hand, is required to insure it. Your gay friend’s non-owners SR22 policy would be secondary to that insurance. A non-owners SR-22 policy typically doesn’t contained coverage for the vehicle in terms of physical damage or other necessary coverage’s like PIP (Personal Injury Protection) UM (Underinsured/Uninsured Motorist) and/or PD

So, if you borrow a car from a friend and get into an accident in a car, your friend’s insurance would kick in first. But if, for example, the accident was your fault and the damage to the other driver’s property exceeded the liability limits on your friend’s policy, your no owner’s insurance policy would cover the excess (up to policy limits)

Typically, in most US states SR-22 insurance would NOT provide proof of insurance for an uninsured vehicle. The proof of insurance must conform to the minimum requirements in a state and the coverage contained in a non-owners SR-22 policy is typically just liability coverage. Thus, if the vehicle’s insurance policy lapsed or was not in effect, then the non-owners policy would cover the policy holder if they are in an accident, but be aware that a non-owners policy covers liability only, but not the vehicle. So, stay safe.

Gay friendly SR22 insurance filing

January 29, 2008 by fashun · Leave a Comment

For most people, it isn’t time to think about their gay friendly SR22 insurance filing until it comes time to renew their licenses. With this attitude of procrastination, though, they could be in for a big suprise. Once they get to that day when they are suddenly eligible to reinstate their license, they go to their car insurance company to ask for an SR22 form to be filed, only to find that they are being cancelled for it, and even if they aren’t, it will take between 48 hours and 3o days for the form to be filed. So, before you get surprised, here’s how the process works.

When you go to file SR22 insurance, you will usually get your SR22 form one of two ways. Either your car insurance company will mail it to you, or they will make it available for you on their website so that you can print it out. Some companies allow you to sign it electronically. For some companies, if you sign it electronically, then they will submit it online. This is the quickest process for gay friendly SR22 insurance filing. If you have to print it out or wait for it in the mail, then you will either mail it back to your insurance company, who will then mail it to the DMV, or you will have to take it up to the DMV yourself. Ask your company about how they do the process and how quickly BEFORE you buy a policy with them.

Gay friendly SR22 form

January 29, 2008 by fashun · Leave a Comment
Filed under: Non owner SR-22 insurance, SR22 insurance

There are three kinds of gay friendly SR22 form:

  • Owner operator SR22: this is the most common type of SR22, for people own and drive their car.
  • Operator SR22: also called non owner SR22, for people who don’t own a car, but still drive
  • Owner SR22: for those who own a car, but don’t drive

It’s important to always have one on file during the first three years after you became eligible to reinstate your driver’s license (or in some cases, such as in Texas, two years; in other cases, such as for repeat DUI offenders, five or more; please check on your case to see how many years you must file the SR22 form). If you don’t, the consequences could be difficult for you to get out of. Already it is very expensive to reinstate a driver’s license, but if your insurance is cancelled, an SR26 is filed by your company, which cancels the gay friendly SR22 form out. With this, your license is once again suspended and you will have to pay the fines and fees to get it back.

Having your auto insurance cancelled can sow consequences beyond just this. You begin to seem like an unreliable customer, which will make it harder for you to find a company to insure you in the future. When you do, they may charge you higher rates.

Online gay friendly SR22

Online gay friendly SR22 quotes should be the first stepping stone on your journey to purchase an SR22 car insurance policy. You can find these in every nook and corner of the internet, and preferably you should go to a website which allows you to enter your information into a simple form and finally arrive at quotes from several different companies. It’s quick and easy price comparison, and makes it much easier to get cheaper insurance than it is if you do it the slow way.

If you purchase your gay friendly SR22 online, then you can also save money, so long as you buy it from the right company. Many companies give incentives to buy online in the form of discounts. Of course, these may not necessarily be the best companies for you, so compare quotes after discounts with what your quotes after discounts would be from other possible companies which may not have the option to buy online.

More and more companies are selling gay friendly SR22 online because it saves them money, through

  • fewer workers
  • fewer offices
  • etc.

And so, when they save money from more and more people buying online, in time they’ll hand that savings over to you. So you save in two ways when you buy online, and in one way you’re just planning savings for the future.
